Today, on the blog, I am going to share 10 quick, easy and fun end of the year activities for your classroom! These end of the year activities are so much fun and engaging!
#1- Themed Days or Weeks
Choose a theme and do activities within that theme for a day or week!
My favorite ideas include…
Camping Week- Read More About it Here
Find a simple way to countdown the days until school is out! You could do a chain that has fun activities for each day!
Or my favorite, a balloon pop! You put the name of each kid inside a balloon and pop one each day. The person then becomes the VIP for the day. I like to give them a special seat, special pens, and allow them to bring in a show and tell.
#3- Blooket Reviews for Fun End of the Year Activities
Have you played Blooket with your kids yet? If not, you so should! It is such an easy and fun way to review ANYTHING. I like to do fun ones at the end of the year. The best part is once you choose your game and start the kids, they can play all on their own. Then, you can work on all that end of the year paperwork. Check out Blooket here!
#4- Letter to the Future
Write two different letters to the future at the end of the year.
- Write a letter to their future selves about what they think they will become. Then, send it home in an envelope for their parents to return to them in the future! You can grab this unit here to make teaching the process easier.
- Write a letter to the students in your classroom next year. This is a great thing to have on the student’s desks on the first day of school. They can write about what they learned, what their year was like, what to expect, etc.
#5- Field Trip To the Next Grade
This is always a favorite of students. Get with the next year’s grade level and let the kids go and see that classroom, ask questions, and talk to the teachers in the grade they are going to next.
#6- Memory Book
This is an activity that students love and it takes a good amount of time in those last weeks. Having students create a memory book is a great way for them to reflect and have fun with their friends. I highly recommend doing it digitally because then they can print it at home, but also they can take and add pictures of the year. I upload all the pictures from the year onto Google classroom and then they can copy and paste it into their book.
#7- Thank You Cards
There are so many people to thank at the end of the year. For an easy end of the year activity, have them thank the janitors, principal, cafeteria staff, and more! Each person in the classroom could write one really good thank you letter & then allow them to deliver it to that person!
#8- EPIC Book Companion Freebie
Read, “The Last Day Blues” by Julie Danneberg on EPIC. You can find it here! As you read, go through the companion, stopping to reflect on the end of the year.
#9- Award Show
You can do this one of two ways and I find both ways valuable and memorable for your students.
- Allow students to pick an award for each person in the classroom. This is very valuable because it allows students to really think of positive traits for each classmate.
- You pick an award for each student and do a little award show. Talk about why you chose that particular award for the student and then reveal who it is. Students will take in your words and remember them all summer long.
#10- Let the Kids Decide Your End of Year Activities
Ask your students near the end of the year to give you a list of several things that they want to learn about. Take that list and make fun lessons around them or allow them to create the lesson all on their own! This is a powerful way to really relate to your students at the end of the year.
I hope you are able to use some of these quick end of the year activities in your classroom this year.
